Four ideas for barbecue fulfillment

Barbecue fans are like pizza fans: They like what they like, and that’s all they like. So it should come as no surprise that four people offered four different suggestions for JoAnn Faulkner, a former Texan who asked for tips from fellow readers.

Cathy Gibbs recommended Buzz BBQ, which is at 7121 W. Craig Road and 9640 W. Tropicana Ave.; Randi Wiessen recommended Big Paul’s BBQ at 6680 W. Flamingo Road; Claude Lambertz favors Red Apple Grill, 7002 W. Charleston Blvd.; and fellow Texas ex-pat Winsor Harmon recommended Famous Dave’s, which has five locations in the valley. …

For Ed Jost, who’s looking for Silva brand Portuguese linguica, Lorraine Nomura of Honolulu, Art Stoughton, Helen Hatcher and Jeanne Brase have found it at local Sam’s Clubs, and Hatcher and Brase also found it at Costco. …

For Ray Moreton, who’s looking for coffee crumb cakes, Lucille Star recommended Dainty Cakes Bakery at 2708 N. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson, and Marie Villareale recommended Great Buns Bakery, 3270 E. Tropicana Ave. …

For Ginger McGraw, who’s looking for dried cannellini beans, Karen Saunders reported finding them in bulk and Bob’s Red Mill packages at Whole Foods Market, of which there are four in the valley, and the Jensens at Village Meat and Wine, 5025 S. Eastern Ave., said they carry them, too. …

The Jensens said they also carry Peter Luger’s Steak Sauce, which Alan Bianco is seeking. …

For Harry Hertel, who’s looking for Schweppes Lemon Sour, Angelica Orme emailed that Schweppes Bitter Lemon is available at the International Marketplace at 5000 S. Decatur Blvd., and she thinks they’re the same thing. …

For Bea Shephard, Gary Fisher reported finding cans of grape soda at various 99 Cents Only stores. …

And for Celeste Souza, Pearl Prunetta emailed that she’d seen fresh kumquats at Trader Joe’s and also at Glazier’s Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road. …

Here are more reader requests.

Ted Vassil: Campbell’s condensed chicken gumbo and Manhattan-style clam chowder;

Joe Tobias: Marsala sauce, which he used to find at Trader Joe’s;

Tom Gabrielli: a local source for jars of Mr. Mustard;

Barbara Simonie: fresh tarragon;

Rae Zajas: a local source for Maypo Instant Oatmeal Cereal;

Kay Burke: a local source for canned raisin pie filling, and Hershey’s cinnamon chips;

Dottie Barber: a local source for kefalotiri cheese;

And Heather Waite: a local source for freeze-dried/dehydrated vegetable flakes in a large plastic container.
