COMPANY RESTAURANT AND PUB HOUSE
Luxor, 3900 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 262-4852
We think of Company’s fare as starter food — there’s no culinary ground broken here, and nothing that would shock the palate — but it’s well-prepared, kind of comforting food served by a friendly staff. Worth trying: the fried mashed-potato sticks, Pig & Peas Mac & Cheese, miso-glazed eggplant and roasted chicken breast. (10/23/09)

TINOCO’S KITCHEN
Las Vegas Club, 18 E. Fremont St.; 464-5008
The old Tinoco’s Bistro in the Arts District had been one of the worst-kept secrets of the downtown business-lunch crowd and it seems likely the move to a new location and new name will continue that. We liked it at dinner, too — for the seared ahi tuna, Chilean sea bass with an incomparable lobster sauce, and Tinoco’s Triloggia, a mixed grill of veal, chicken and beef — even if we thought it brings more to the Las Vegas Club than the Las Vegas Club brings to it. RED SQUARE
Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 632-7407
Red Square isn’t exactly authentic — though, to be fair, an authentic Russian restaurant would be a tough sell on the Strip — but it’s gorgeous inside and a lot of fun and serves good food to boot. Particularly worthy of note: the grilled Caesar salad, steak tartare, chicken Kiev, Adzhika Pork and Strawberries Romanoff. (7/20/07)
