Local deli offers pierogies

This week, readers have several suggestions for a pierogi-seeking counterpart:

Valerie Smith can find sauerkraut pierogies as well as cabbage, potato/cheese, spinach/cheese and some fruit varieties at the Polish Deli, 5900 W. Charleston Blvd., e-mailed Laura Crowton. The Polish Deli also was suggested by J. Lilley and John Bear. "They are very good, too," Bear added.

"We have found them on the Internet at Mrs. T's Pierogies (www.pierogies.com)," e-mailed Pat Serakowski. "They are shipped to you Federal Express and you must buy at least 12 dozen per order. They freeze very well."

And Rose Rinehart suggested Vermont Country Store at www.vermontcountrystore.com, or (802) 362-8460. ...

For Harriette Barbuto, who is looking for Fox's U-Bet chocolate syrup, Ellen Barre Spiegel e-mailed: "Please let Harriette know that many of our local supermarkets (Albertsons, Vons, etc.) carry it; however, it's found in the kosher section. ... I even found a version of Fox's U-Bet that's kosher for Passover -- at the new Albertsons" at 2910 Bicentennial Parkway in Henderson.

Valerie State and John Vornsand suggested Vons, Janice Egan and Larry Fafalak suggested Albertsons -- Fafalak also suggested Smith's -- and Joan Luchen suggested the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 3615 S. Rainbow Blvd. Fafalak added, "It comes in the plastic squeeze bottle now and not the big jar." ...

For Diana Corro, Marilyn Diyco e-mailed: "I have had a completely wonderful lobster roll at the Tides Oyster Bar at Green Valley Ranch," 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway in Henderson. "The price was $12.99 and worth every bite." There is another Tides Oyster Bar at Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd. ...

For Anna Lou de Stefano, who is looking for smaller burger buns to serve with sliders, "I found that the dinner rolls in Smith's deli, sold in packs of a dozen, were almost identical in size and texture to the buns used for the Krystal's version of slyders (the White Castle spelling!)," e-mailed Dawn Macke. "The Smith's buns worked wonderfully when this Southern girl craved Krystal's recently and attempted my own at home." ...

More on Lipton Tropical Tea Bags: "May I suggest Bigelow's Taste of the Tropics Herb Tea Bags, bought at Albertsons?" e-mailed Belinda King. "As a tea drinker myself I'm pleased with the comparable taste. Also try Lipton White Tea with Island Mango and Peach at Albertsons, or ask the manager to order it for you." ...

Ed Gelpern is looking for a local source for Chef Boyardee spaghetti sauce with meat. ...

Janice Shubelka Green is looking for reader suggestions for the best beef Wellington. ...
