No need to travel for HP Sauce

Today’s bit of trivia: In case you didn’t know, the HP in HP Sauce stands for Britain’s Houses of Parliament (which explains the illustration on the bottle’s label). More to the point: In response to a query from Terri Hohl, readers say it’s readily available in Las Vegas.

Julie Patton and Natalie Mazzullo recommended Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets, with multiple stores across the valley (and, actually, a British parent company). Judy Gilman said three varieties are available at the International Marketplace, 5000 S. Decatur Blvd., and Pat Wilson suggested British Foods, 3375 S. Decatur Blvd. Linda Button e-mailed that she sometimes finds it at Village Meat & Wine, 5025 S. Eastern Ave.; she also finds it in large jugs at www.amazon.com, and she and Wilson both recommended www.jollygrub.com (or call 866-702-4782). …

For Diane Kula, who’s looking for Chester cheese-flavored popcorn in bags, Danielle Powell e-mailed that she has seen it at the Kmart Super Center at 10405 S. Eastern Ave., and Val Mosthaff said she has found it at Smith’s at 850 S. Rancho Drive and the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 4505 W. Charleston Blvd. And, as Kula said she would be willing to try another brand, William G. Raley e-mailed that Pirate’s Treasure white cheddar popcorn is available at Fresh & Easy. …

For Rhonda Evans, who’s looking for raw pine nuts in the shell, Cathy Bourne e-mailed that the nuts, also called pinon, are seasonal, and the supply is dependent on how much rain falls in Nevada. She suggested ordering through www.nutsonline.com (or call 800-558-6887). I’ve also purchased them from roadside stands in New Mexico near the big Navajo reservation, but that’s a long way to go for pinon nuts. …

For Terrylea Hankins, who’s looking for Campfire Marshmallows, Susan Dickinson e-mailed that they’re available at Terrible Herbst stores in Las Vegas. …

For Patty Moyer, Terry Tefertiller wrote that beef-tomato chow mein is available on weekdays at the lunch counter at the Huntridge Pharmacy, 1122 E. Charleston Blvd. …

For Julie Birkenmaier, who’s looking for a local source for Sauce Arturo, Judith Wallin e-mailed that she has been looking for years and can find none. She orders by the case via www.carriagehousebrands.com, phone (678) 349-2013. …

Reader requests: Susan Batchman is looking for Angostura Lime mixer. …

Roberta Brauch is looking for Brach’s candy in bulk, which she used to get at Smith’s at 4600 E. Sunset Road in Henderson. …

Gerry Smith is looking for a local source for Downey’s Honey Butter Cinnamon. …

And Edie Blanchard is looking for a place with chicken picatta similar to that served at the late Swiss Cafe (“not real lemony”), and a drink like the cafe’s Swiss Woo Woo.
