Readers locate scrapple sources
Regional favorites rule the hearts of those who make up the great melting pot that is Las Vegas, as readers of this column know well. And in response to a query from Jan Adams, they have sources for scrapple, beloved in the Pennsylvania area.
Beth More, Rich Kohut and Julie Hickey reported that Jones brand can be found in the freezer section at Smith’s. Philadelphia ex-pat Hickey reported that Jones "is an excellent choice when there is no Philly scrapple around." But if you’re not buying it, Kohut added that you also can order from www. For Bev Greer, who is looking for Pepperidge Farm Raisin-Cinnamon Bread, we have a couple of suggested substitutes. Monica Starnes recommended Oregon Trail from Sam’s Club and Colleen Sams recommended Sunmaid or Aunt Hattie’s, both available at Albertsons at 2650 Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson. …
For Ryan Popovich, Sams said Albertsons also carries five flavors of Meadow Gold dips, including the requested French Onion. …
And for Lou Nunzio, she said the store carries Buitoni pastas and sauces. …

More on Devil Dogs: My apologies to all those Devil Dogs fans out there, but reader Jay Goldstein emailed to point out that Drake’s was/is owned by Hostess, a point that was somewhat lost in all of the uproar about the demise of the Twinkie.
And so, unless and until a savior steps forward to buy the company - at least, that part of the company – it seems that Devil Dogs also will go the way of the Mayans. …
