Snap up macarons before craze hits

Those who are fond of imagining they have crystal balls are telling us that the Next Big Thing — the new cupcake, as it were — will be the macaron. Not to be confused with macaroons, macarons are meringue-based wafers sandwiched around a cream or jam filling.

Eric Blum is looking for them in Las Vegas, and fellow readers have a few sources for him. Julie Zerbel, Jane Karadbil, Carolyn Titus and Patti Lunn all recommended Patisserie Manon, 8751 W. Charleston Blvd., and Aline Collins emailed to recommend Bonjour Bakery & Deli, 4012 S. Rainbow Blvd. …

For Dennis Paxson, who’s looking for Lebanon bologna, Teresa Ziolkowski and Bernd Klopfer reported finding it at Smith’s, and Lois R. Alander and Colleen Sams found it at Albertsons. …

For Louise Sutherland, Sams found jalapeno poppers at Albertsons at 2650 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson, and Chuck Breuer finds them at Smart & Final. …

For Sheila Fagarsky, Harriet Shuman, Anna Carlton and Blum reported finding Hebrew National Salami at Bagel Cafe at 301 N. Buffalo Drive. …
