Taste of the Town: Polish sausage options dot the valley

While a lot of Taste of the Town readers are in search of restaurants that serve their favorite foods, Henry Arambula is looking for something he wants to cook at home — specifically, Polish sausage. And his fellow Taste of the Town readers have a few suggestions.

Ed Bordenka, Greta Buckley and Karen A. Parrish all recommended the Polish Deli at 5900 W. Charleston Blvd., which Bordenka said imports it from Chicago.

Marge Guretz, who’s of Polish descent and a native of Chicago, recommended the sausage made fresh daily at Branded Meats and Deli, 1550 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson. Parrish also recommended Larry’s Great Western Meats at 420 S. Valley View Blvd. and Sprouts Farmers Market, which has locations at 3365 E. Tropicana Ave., 4020 S. Rainbow Blvd. and — as of today — 515 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson. Marlene Ferris recommended the Stewart Market at 2021 E. Stewart Ave.

Jaci Look, owner of A Simple Life at 5025 S. Eastern Ave., emailed that she carries 17 varieties of sausage, including Polish, from a Wisconsin sausagemaker.

And Ron Lutz of The Butcher Block, which is at 7625 S. Rainbow Blvd. and 6440 N. Durango Drive, emailed with a reminder that he makes raw Polish sausage and carries it at both locations. …

It’s a good day for home cooks: For Ash Yadev, who’s looking for gyro meat, for making gyros at home, Pamela Moore and Ann Brown recommended Sprouts Farmers Market; Brown added that “they also sell a really good tzatziki sauce to put on them, and the best pita bread I’ve ever eaten!” …

For Edith Levitt, who’s looking for baby artichokes, Steve Gall emailed that he requested them from the produce manager at Albertsons at 8410 Farm Road and they were delivered two days later. …

For Jean Miller, who’s looking for Aunt Jemima coffeecake in the bake-in box, Bob and Sally Harnish reported finding it at Glazier’s Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road, and at Food 4 Less at 1301 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson.
