Taste of the Town: Readers relish search for hamburger, hot dog toppings

Tom Reichel contacted Taste of the Town a while back to inquire about a source for hamburger relish, and shortly thereafter, Pam Levine wrote in search of hot dog relish.

If you’re not familiar with the two products, hamburger relish is, essentially, sweet pickle relish with ketchup added; the hot dog version has mustard instead.

Before readers’ suggestions appeared in the column, Reichel emailed again to say he’d found both at Glazier’s Food Marketplace at 8525 Warm Springs Road. Marlene Drozd also recommended Glazier’s, adding, “Shoppers should always check out the products at Glazier’s; they stock numerous products that are from the Midwest and the East that a lot of markets in the valley don’t carry.” Rose Pokorski emailed that she found hot dog relish at Winco at 6101 N. Decatur Blvd.; there’s another Winco at 80 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson. And Alan Van Ees, who reported finding a lot of sources online, also added that both would be easy to make by adding the appropriate condiments to pickle relish. …

For Paula Newman, Libby Casolari emailed that San Francisco Bay Fog Chaser K-cups are available at Bed, Bath &Beyond (which has multiple stores in the valley), Costco and www.Amazon.com. Or, she suggested, Newman can save money by buying direct from www.RogersFamilyCo.com (800-829-1300). Bill Kline emailed that the Fog Chasers and the Peet’s Cafe Domingo K-cups that Newman also is seeking both are available at www.Costco.com (800-955-2292), and Judie Chaney reported finding Peet’s K-Cups at Target at 695 S. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson, although she said she’s not sure if they have the Cafe Domingo variety. …

For David Fleury, who’s looking for chopped prosciutto in 3-ounce packages, Karen Galowitch reported finding it in the refrigerated case with the prepared food (like sandwiches) at Sprouts Farmers Market at 10000 W. Sahara Ave.; there are several other Sprouts stores in the valley.
