Wanted: Clams with bellies
Last week we discovered readers’ fondness for chicken Marsala; this week we’ll talk about the local availability of New England-style whole-belly clams, since I received numerous responses to a query by Paul and Hilda Frano.
As is the case with a few other food items beloved of many Taste of the Town readers, places that serve whole-belly clams tend to come and go in the valley, which is why I don’t mind running this one every few years. One that has stuck around for a while, though, is Monstah Lobstah at 9310 S. Eastern Ave. in Henderson. It was recommended by Ray Fontanilla, Laurie Brenner, George Bussell and David Fleury. Brenner and Dave Levesque recommended Lazy Joe’s Fish and Chips, 7835 S. Rainbow Blvd., and Joyce M. LaPointe recommended East Coast Eats at 50 N. Valle Verde Drive in Henderson. …
For Kendall Hardin, Mark Pruter emailed that he can get Captain Jim’s Alaska Smoked Salmon at www. RiverboatDiscovery.com (866-479-6673). …
For Robert Migliorino, Janine Williams emailed that single cans of Pennsylvania Dutch birch beer are available at Rocco’s New York Italian Deli, 1181 S. Buffalo Drive. …
And for Diane Homeier, who’s looking for Nabisco fat-free saltine crackers, Debbie Novotny emailed that she can’t find them, either, but she suggested the Hy-Top brand sold at Winco, which is at 80 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson and 6101 N. Decatur Blvd. …
More on Marsala: Eileen Martinez recommended the chicken Marsala at the Emerald Island Casino at 120 Market St. in Henderson, and Rich Segelke recommended Buon Gusto Ristorante at 2642 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson. …
