Irish dance performed at Winchester Center

Clark County Parks and Recreation's World Steps dance series continues with the Celtic Storm Dance Company of the Sharon Lynn Academy of Irish Dance at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.

The performance will showcase dance from the Emerald Isle dating back to before the immigration to America and continuing through today.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children and seniors. For more information, call 455-7340.

Young Entertainers play Starbright Theater

Helen Joy's Young Entertainers present the third annual "Broadway Vignettes" show today and Saturday at the Starbright Theater in Summerlin, 2215 Thomas Ryan Blvd.

Showtime is 7 p.m. both days.

This year's show features performances from "Annie," "The Wiz," "The Wizard of Oz," "Wicked," "Fiddler on the Roof," "Sweet Charity," "Chicago," "South Pacific," "Les Miserables" and "The Best of Cole Porter," among others.

Maggie Smith, the actor who won an Oscar for “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” in 1969 and gained new fans in the 21st century as the dowager Countess of Grantham in “Downton Abbey” and Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter films, died Friday.
