Nicolas Cage stars in ‘Season of the Witch’

The story: Returning to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague, a 14th-century crusader finds himself in charge of transporting an accused witch — suspected of being the plague’s source — to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual to end the pestilence.

The buzz: We’re a long way from Halloween — and 1982’s "Halloween III: Season of the Witch." Instead, this medieval mystery tour (filmed in Austria, Hungary and Croatia) reunites Cage with director Dominic Sena ("Whiteout," "Swordfish"), who previously directed him in 2000’s "Gone in 60 Seconds."
