Queens of the Stone Age playing Cosmo
Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme once described his band’s riff-heavy, thunder-clap jams as robot rock for their emphasis on repetition, resulting in a hypnotic drone that numbed the senses like a skinny dip in a vat of Novocaine. But that was then, and after the stoner rock sorcery of its 1998 self-titled debut, the band has increasingly pushed the bounds on its sound, resulting in tunes as diffuse as they are dense.
See Queens of the Stone Age at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $39.50; call 698-7000.
