The Grascals to pay tribute to Mayberry, USA
Grammy-nominated bluegrass band The Grascals will perform their tribute to “The Andy Griffith Show” at 8 p.m. Friday at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St.
The free ArtBeat concert, presented by Target, follows this week’s release of the band’s latest album, “Dance ’til Your Stockings Are Hot and Ravelin.’ ”
The Grascals’ release coincides with the 50th anniversary of the classic television program. The album features a seven-song collection of tunes inspired by scenes from the show’s eight-year run. Among the songs are “Mayberry’s Finest Theme,” “Boil Them Cabbage Down,” “Dooley” and “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms,” as well as a Grascal original, “Boy, Giraffes Are Selfish,” a play on words from one of the program’s episodes.
