Black History Month Festival includes food, entertainment

Commemorating the contributions of African-Americans to Southern Nevada’s history and culture, the Springs Preserve will host its third annual Black History Month Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Admission is $5 for adults, free for children 12 and younger. For more information, visit springspreserve.org.

Entertainment at this family-friendly celebration will include a children’s film festival, elementary school art competition display, hip-hop/jazz violinist Brandon Summers, the Austin Dancers Academy, Greek step shows, and music and cultural art vendors. There also will be presentations by local genealogist Charles Bilberry on researching your roots.

Food vendors will include Seven Seas, Mario’s Westside Market and Soul D’Licious .
