Six Picks: Marty Allen, Prong, ‘Jeff,’ Nicole Pryor, UNLVino, The Cataracs

Marty Allen

Hello ‘dere. Can you believe Marty Allen is 90 today? You can? Point taken. But the bug-eyed comedian is still performing, and that’s quite a feat. You can help him celebrate a day later with his 4 p.m. Saturday show at Palace Station. Locals knock $15 off the $57 ticket; call 547-5300.

Prong

Prong frontman Tommy Victor has meted out some of metal’s all-time greatest riffs, though he seldom gets the run he deserves. This makes him angry, which makes his music angry, which makes us happy. See Prong at 9 p.m. today at the Las Vegas Country Saloon, 425 Fremont St. Tickets are $15; call 382-3849.

‘Jeff, Who Lives at Home’

OK, so they’re not the Oscar-winning Coen Brothers — yet. But the filmmaking Duplass Brothers, Jay and Mark, have come a long way, baby, since their no-budget Mumblecore beginnings. In "Jeff, Who Lives at Home" — a worthy follow-up to 2010’s "Cyrus" — they demonstrate that their offbeat indie instincts play even better with a (little) bigger budget and name cast members, including Jason Segel (as the slacker title character).

Nicole Pryor

Most of the time, Nicole Pryor plays a chorus role in "Phantom — The Las Vegas Spectacular." But on Sunday at the West Las Vegas Library Theater, the singer-songwriter has a solo in the spotlight, performing songs from her just-released album, "The Long Way Home," at a free concert. Pryor takes the stage at 1 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. For more information, call 507-3989.

The Cataracs

Last year, you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing "Like a G6." The DJs behind that super hit, The Cataracs, perform tonight at club Moon at the Palms. The duo’s other hit collaborations with Dev (the post-Peaches electro-rap singer) are also ground-pounding greats — "Bass Down Low" and "Top of the World." They also did "Backseat" with New Boyz.
