The Ataris revisiting their past

“Being grown up isn’t half as fun as growing up,” the Ataris once sang.

Thing is, the veteran pop punk troupe is all grown up, having been around for close to 20 years now.

So what to do?

Revisit the past, obviously.

And that would be 2003’s “So Long, Astoria,” the Ataris’ breakout fourth record, which went gold largely on the strength of the band’s heart-in-the-throat cover of Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer.”

On their current tour, the Ataris will be playing that album in its entirety, with the group’s classic lineup hitting the road together for the first time in a decade.

The boys of summer have officially become the middle-age dudes of spring.
