Truckfighters bring fuzz, fire for powerful sound worthy of desert

There are no sand dunes in Sweden.

And yet, it’s hard not to think of the desert when it comes to Swede rockers Truckfighters.

The band is evocative of the SoCal desert rock scene, specifically the caterpillar-fuzzy guitars of Fu Manchu and the narcotic melodies of Queens of the Stone Age.

On the band’s latest album, “Universe,” singer-bassist Ozo howls like a Scandinavian Ian Astbury over head-bobbing grooves that shake foundations from here to the band’s homeland.

Oh, and Palm Springs, too.
