Comedy Central going for a ride on Roku

LOS ANGELES — Comedy Central is now making full episodes of its shows available on Roku’s streaming devices. Roku owners can use Comedy Central’s new channel to watch full episodes of the “Daily Show With Jon Stewart,” “Key & Peele,” “South Park” and other shows, as well as standup specials for free.

Some content requires users to log in with their pay TV credentials, but latest episodes of the “Daily Show,” “The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore” and select other content is also available without a TV subscription.

Comedy Central is bringing its videos to Roku after previously launching on iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Xbox One. The network hasn’t officially announced its Roku channel yet, but Reddit users discovered late last week on Roku’s channel store.

The app is joining a growing number of TV networks that are making their fare available to Roku’s user base. Most of them require users to sign in with their pay TV credentials, but some have begun to offer unbundled subscriptions on Roku. Later this month, Showtime will bring its new unbundled streaming service to Roku.
