SHOW US YOUR ACCESSORIES
• Name: Carl Goldner
• Occupation: Owner, Vox Wine Lounge
• Occasion: Hanging out during Love Sexy, our Tuesday night event.
• What kind of accessories? Blackberry Curve, Silver Martini Cuff links with a jade "olive" in the glass, silver "Old Style" belt buckle, Freedom Community necklace, Ray Ban aviator sunglasses, sterling silver guitar pick embossed with a Spanish cross.
• How much did they cost? My favorite pieces were designed by artists or given as gifts, so I guess the cost was friendship.
• Where did you get them? T-Mobile for my phone. Cuff links I bought at Nordstrom. The belt buckle I bought at a little funky secondhand shop in Taos, N.M. On the belt buckle it reads "Old Style," which is actually a beer out of the Midwest. The necklace is a completely unique symbol based on the letters FC for Freedom Community. The letters reflect individuals who choose to create trust and passionate expressions of life. The sunglasses are from a sunglass shop in Fashion Show mall. If you see me in three weeks, my glasses will be different because these will be either lost or completely destroyed. The silver guitar pick from a shop in Taos, N.M. I love music and have live music many nights at Vox and you just might catch me with my own band playing there as well.
• Tell us about the first accessory you ever bought. I would have to say a checkered hat, fingerless leather gloves or these crazy wraparound sunglasses. I was a break dancer way, way back in the day.
• Why did you choose these accessories today? Aside from my cowboy hat, these are the accessories I wear most often and always have with me.
• How many accessories do you own? Not as many as one would think.
• What is the most you ever paid for an accessory? I guess around $500 for sunglasses.
• Image is… too easily manufactured and rarely reflects who the person is. People craft an image based on their occupation or their desire to fit in to a subcategory of society. I like to think that I’ve always done the opposite whether I’m wearing a cowboy hat or an Armani jacket; it’s that part of me reflected outwardly and for the good or bad. I think that has directed my occupation in some ways.
