Sisters With Style
They’re a little like the "Sex and the City" cast, only younger and PG-13. At the premiere of their movie, the stars of "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" proved they can do the grown-up look without going overboard. Each cast member embraced her womanhood without stepping into tart territory.
Blake Lively, who’s found fame on "Gossip Girl" since her first "Sisterhood" stint, rocked a maxi dress that maximized her above-the-waist assets. The floor-sweeping length of the dress, combined with its flowing nature made for an elegant compromise, though. Lively kept her accessories appropriately minimal with a single cuff bracelet.
Alexis Bledel gave minimalism the cold shoulder in this one-shoulder cocktail dress. The pleated tiers created eye-catching movement and the bare shoulder provided just enough exposed skin. Normally, a dress as extraordinary as this can carry a pair of plain pumps but Bledel let the shoes speak for themselves. The edgy cage sandals offer a fine reminder that this starlet has sass.
America Ferrera, star of "Ugly Betty," played it safe in this strapless number. The actress, or her stylist, is keen to figure flattery. Every red carpet garment she dons manages to trim her waist, like the black ribbon does on this dress. The cornflower blue shade extends to her peep toe pumps, giving the look a loud pop.
The only one of the bunch who opted for pants, Amber Tamblyn wore a one-piece jumper. The shoulder cut outs, wide leg pants and built-in belt proportion the actress and lend well to her tall frame. Her legs go on for miles and, like Ferrera, she defines a waist.
Emulate the cast members’ grown up, yet age-appropriate looks with these affordable options.
