THE KEYS TO STYLE

Alicia Keys sings in a deep, sultry voice but she hits a high note with this simple outfit. Preparing to meet a crowd of screaming teenagers on the set of MTV’s TRL, Keys manages to keep it cool from head-to-toe.

Although the Grammy-winning songstress may have dropped the equivalent of your entire paycheck on her sunglasses, we’ll show you how to capture her look on a tighter budget. And, if you have curves as dangerous as hers, these pieces will make both your wallet and your figure happy.

Keys’ shape epitomizes the pear: little on the top, ample on the bottom. Rather than camouflage them, Keys prefers to showcase her well-rounded parts with a pair of snug-as-a-bug denim pants in a grey wash. We can only assume they’re designer, which usually start in the low $200 region but we tracked down a pair almost identical to Keys’ at Urban Outfitters. Even the pant leg slouches down around the ankle, to draw notice to her stellar footwear.

The soul singer’s peep toe leather shoes upgrade the simplicity of her look, taking her into super sexy status. For a shoe as classic as this style, you may want to delve into the triple digits as we did with our selection from Bebe. The slightly extra monetary effort will more than pay for itself in longevity.

To keep the high octave energy going up top, Keys throws on a blouse with a fitted waist in a color that acts as a magnet to the eyes. It minimizes her waist, further enhancing her voluptuous bottom half. We found a similar option at Target for less than you’ll pay for an Alicia Keys CD.

Finish off this look with the same urban-glam tone she did, with a pair of hoops you can fit a soda can through and shades with star quality. Marciano and Forever 21 are excellent sources for both.
