Transplanting mums will be discussed

The Las Vegas Chrysanthemum Society will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Nevada Garden Club Center. “Transplanting Your Mums” will be the topic of the afternoon’s program.

The session will be especially valuable for novice chrysanthemum growers, said a club spokesperson.

Anyone interested in learning about growing chrysanthemums is welcome to attend.

The center is located at 3333 W. Washington Ave. at the corner of Twin Lakes Drive in Lorenzi Park. For more information, call Barbara at 459-4633.

Vino in the Orchard event set for May 17

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and Vino 100 will present their second annual Vino in the Orchard event May 17.

The day’s festivities will include wine and food tastings as well as activities for children. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to tour the master gardeners’ orchard and learn more about wine grapes.

The event, scheduled from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. will be held at the Center for Urban Horticulture and Water Conservation, 4400 Horse Road, North Las Vegas.

Tickets are $15 for adults and free for children.

University of Nevada Cooperative Extension offers unbiased, research-based knowledge from University of Nevada and other land-grant universities to local communities. Educational programs are developed based on local needs, sometimes in partnership with other agencies and volunteers.
