RELIGION NOTES

MUSIC

All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 4201 W. Washington Ave., will present a recital by German concert organist Hans Hielscher at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The program is free (878-2373).

The singing group Commandment 11 will perform at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Sunrise Baptist Church, 1780 Betty Lane (452-8599).

The Black History Month concert “The History of the Negro Spiritual” will be presented at 3 p.m. Feb. 21 at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd. The concert will feature choral spirituals performed by the College of Southern Nevada’s Chamber Chorale, pianist Voltaire Verzosa and a dramatic reading by James Weldon Johnson. A goodwill offering will be taken (341-7800).

EVENTS

Christ Episcopal Church, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, will have a Mardi Gras event featuring food, bingo and prizes following the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday. Lunch will be available at noon, and bingo will begin at 1 p.m. (735-7655).

Christ the King Catholic Community, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive, will offer fish fries 4-7 p.m. Fridays during Lent. The fee is $6 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12 (871-1904).

Christ Episcopal Church, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, will offer soup and sandwich suppers at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays during Lent (735-7655).

SERVICES

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas, 3616 E. Lake Mead Blvd., will explore theology and science as part of “Evolution Weekend” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with the Rev. Linda Bunyard (437-2404).

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., will administer Imposition of Ashes at 6 p.m. Wednesday (732-2052).

SINGLES GROUPS

New Life Christian Center has a singles meeting at 7 p.m. the second Friday of the month at 1229 E. Carson Ave. (387-5433).

Single Adults Learning Together, or SALT Ministries of CornerStone Christian Fellowship, meets at 6 p.m. Saturdays at 5825 W. Eldora Ave. (871-5050).
