Summer programs target kids
UNLV’s Division of Educational Outreach has a variety of summer education and enrichment programs planned for area youths.
A one-week math program for students entering grades six through 12 in the fall will be offered June 18-23 for high school and June 25-30 for middle school students.
Lift off with Math 2007 Careers in Space Summer Math Camp is an in-residence program with students staying on campus during the morning program, as well as traveling by bus to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.

Students entering grades 10, 11 or 12 in the fall can participate in the Summer Advanced Gifted Education (SAGE) Academy, scheduled for July 23 through Aug. 10. The three-week program offers university credit tracks for students interested in politics, global biology, mathematics, literature, history and law. A variety of eight one-day-a-week summer reading programs also are scheduled to meet on campus and at sites around the valley in June and July. These offerings range from reading for entering first-graders to speed reading for high school seniors. For details, call (800) 978-3532.
Color, form and design are the creative elements making up Abrakadoodle, a series of programs offered for children ages 3 to 12 focusing on creativity and knowledge of the world. The classes range from painting, sculpture and collage to mosaics, sketching and more. More information about these programs is available at www.abrakadoodle.com/nv01.
