Dining Pick of the Week: Jacobi’s Pizza

9620 Las Vegas Blvd. South at Silverado Ranch Boulevard, 457-0990

Scott Hoover is from Buffalo, N.Y., and he knows all about the pizza, wings and subs that have made the city famous. “We don’t have a very large menu,” he said, “but what we have is the real thing.” All pizzas are made to order with toppings such as Italian sausage, hot peppers, mushrooms, black olives, anchovies, ham, spinach, pepperoni, sweet peppers and pineapple. There is also cheese bread (with or without tomatoes) and garlic bread. Popular Buffalo wings are prepared mild, medium, hot, barbecue or lemon pepper and are served with celery and ranch or blue cheese dressing. Parmigiana subs include chicken, eggplant and meatball, and you know there has to be another Buffalo favorite, beef on weck. The most popular sub is the chicken finger. Other subs and wraps, made with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese with choice of oil or mayo and onion, are ham, roast beef, turkey, tuna, salami, and cheese. Among the salads are chef, dinner and antipasto with ham, salami, provolone and green olives. Several desserts are cheesecake and carrot cake. Pizzas begin at $9, and 10 large wings start at $9. Jacobi’s Pizza is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday. – Jack Bulavsky
