Dining pick of the week: Potrillos
139 S. Water St., Henderson, 558-9994
Right in the middle of old downtown Henderson is a comfortable, family restaurant that has a larger than usual kids’ menu. Children can find something for breakfast (breakfast burrito, bacon and eggs) or lunch/dinner (chicken nuggets, BLT, bean and cheese burrito, junior cheeseburger) while mom and dad feast on large combination platters and seafood specialties. Lunch and dinner combos are served with rice, beans and soup of the day and include enchiladas (cheese, chicken, beef, pork), soft or hard tacos, chile relleno, quesadillas, chimichangas, steak and shrimp rancheros, steak Colorado, milanesa (breaded steak), chicken mole, rolled taquitos and wet burritos. There are fajitas, tostadas and special fish entrees such as garlic marinated shrimp, fried snapper, fish filet ranchero, camarones a la diabla (spicy shrimp) and caldo siete mares or seven seas soup. Popular breakfasts are huevos rancheros, chorizo and eggs, Mexican-style eggs with jalapenos, tomatoes and onions, eggs with red or green salsa and eggs with shredded beef. Several appetizers are flautas, cheese quesadilla and shrimp wrapped with bacon and crab. Among the salads are shrimp, chicken breast and taco. Combos begin at $8.99. Potrillos is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. — Jack Bulavsky
