First Friday Highlights

n Blackbird Studios, 1551 S. Commerce St., is set to open its newest exhibit, "Celebrating Existence: A Show of Atheism," featuring works from 26 artists and an opening reception.
n Trifecta Gallery inside The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd., is slated to open "Keep on the Sunnyside," with works from award-winning illustrator Anthony Freda.
n Brett Wesley Gallery, 1112 S. Casino Center Blvd., plans to open the exhibit, "Stream of Consciousness," with works from Dutch artist and designer Johnny Detiger. A meet-and-greet with Detiger is slated for 6 to 9 p.m.
n The Contemporary Arts Center inside The Arts Factory plans to continue Scott Carter’s "Affect/Effect."
n Sin City Gallery inside The Arts Factory plans to present works from local artist Gia Ray through Nov. 26.
n Joesph Watson’s studio inside The Arts Factory plans to exhibit a Frankenstein-inspired group show Friday through Nov. 25. Call 742.4021.
n The Rotunda Gallery inside the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Vegas Valley Book Festival with the exhibit, "10×10: A creative exchange between visual artists and writers." An opening First Friday reception is slated for 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit features works from artists and writers influenced by Southern Nevada’s creative culture.
n The Vegas Artists Guild is scheduled to show in the main gallery at the City of the World gallery, 1229 S. Casino Center Blvd.
Worth a Drive
n The Nevada Watercolor Society’s Fall Show is under way at the gallery at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. through Dec. 6. Visit lvccld.org.
n The art exhibit, "What Continues the Dream," set to run Friday through Dec. 21 at the Charleston Heights Art Center, 800 S. Brush St. Original handmade crafts, dance regalia and art of the Native American Nevada-style pow wos are to be featured.
