Opportunity Village’s Magical Forest is open from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Dec. 31. Admission is $9.75 for adults and $7.75 for children 12 or younger. Toddlers 2 or younger are free. Attraction passports for adults and kids are available starting at $14.25, and season passes are available starting at $25. Tickets can be purchased at the event, at any Opportunity Village campus, at CVS Pharmacy locations and at magicalforest.org.

Cimarron-Memorial High School hosts Thanksgiving meal for families in need

Hundreds of homeless schoolchildren and their families from Clark County School District’s Performance Zone 3 received a meal Nov. 24 at Cimarron-Memorial High School, 2301 N. Tenaya Way. More than 600 families from the zone’s 28 schools were invited to attend the school district’s inaugural Thanksgiving Dinner.

Fruit variety will fight late freezes

Question: I planted an orchard about 4 years ago here in Pahrump. I planted many different fruit varieties and have come to find some of them do not work here. Their blossoms and foliage, in most cases, are very beautiful, but the fruit does not ripen. I was wondering about some other fruit trees that may work in our area.
