‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ to open
at las vegas little theatre
“Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” based on the 1988 film by the same name, is scheduled to open July 15 at the Las Vegas Little Theatre, 3920 Schiff Drive.
The show’s premise focuses on two con men living on the French Riviera who unsuccessfully attempt to work together.
Shows are at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays through July 31.

in July
Tony Bennett is set to perform at 8 p.m. July 24 at the Pearl at the Palms.

CELEBRATES SECOND YEAR
Nashville Unplugged, which celebrated its second anniversary in June, is scheduled to continue at 8 p.m. Friday.
The show, which is inside Ovation at Green Valley Ranch Resort, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway, features country artists Aaron Benward and Brian McComas, along with a special guest at each performance.

FREE RIDES DURING SUMMER
The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2240 Village Walk Drive, announced that it is planning to give free rides on its carousel.
Normally, a ride costs $2 per guest.
The carousel features 32 animals and two chariot carts.
Summer hours are 3 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Village Lake Las Vegas, 15 Costa di Lago, has announced its line up for its July Jazz on the Lake concert series.

Clark County MUSEUM EXHIBIT
COVERS EVOLUTION OF the OFFICE
Through Oct. 23, an exhibit called “From Carbon Paper to PDF” is slated to be at the Clark County Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway.
The exhibit showcases 100 years of office evolution and how technology has changed from a quill pen and ink to computers.

Entertainer Eric Jordan Young
releases his first solo CD
Summerlin resident Eric Jordan Young, lead performer in “Vegas! The Show” at the Saxe Theater at Planet Hollywood, has released his debut solo album, “Once in a Lifetime.” It takes a new spin on the classic songs made famous by late Rat Pack member Sammy Davis Jr.
Jordan is an accomplished Broadway performer, playwright, singer and songwriter and a past winner of the Helen Hayes Award for his work in the Broadway musical “Side Show .” He has been in numerous Broadway musicals. He also recently extended his contract with the Saxe Theater.

Shakespeare classics
Classic Shakespeare works are planned to be shown in movie theaters this summer.
Each performance will begin at 7 p.m. at Village Square 18, 9400 W. Sahara Ave.
“Henry IV Part 1” is scheduled for Aug. 1, “Henry IV Part 2” for Aug. 18 and “Henry VIII” for Sept. 15.
Each includes a 20-minute historical perspective on the Globe Theatre and its reconstruction.

AT CITY HALL BRIDGE GALLERY
The “Celebrating Life! 2011” exhibit is scheduled to be displayed Thursday through Aug. 25 at the City Hall Bridge Gallery, 400 Stewart Ave.
This is the 11th year for the fine art competition, which is open to Clark County artists 50 or older. Sixty-nine artworks were selected for the juried exhibit out of the 207 works entered this year.

‘Killer Joe’ is coming
to College of Southern Nevada
All of the stereotypical characters and traits of Texas “trailer trash” come to the forefront as “Killer Joe” is presented by the College of Southern Nevada’s Department of Fine Arts. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the BackStage Theatre on the Cheyenne campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave..
The play is set in a trailer park near Dallas. “Killer Joe,” who has been hired by the Smith family to murder the matriarch for insurance money, takes the daughter to bed as a retainer against his final payoff, which sets in motion a bloody aftermath as the hit man meets his match.
