Nevada Conservatory Theatre
plans to perform ‘Noises off’

The Nevada Conservatory Theatre at UNLV presents Michael Frayn’s “Noises Off” through Sunday in the Judy Bayley Theatre on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

The renowned farce returned to Broadway in 2001 with a cast that included Patti LuPone and Peter Gallagher as a manic menagerie of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called “Nothing’s On.”

Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday with matinees at 2 p.m. Sunday . Tickets are $20 to $30 and on sale at the UNLV Performing Arts Center box office. Special rates are available for groups of 15 or more.

‘Legends in Concert’ at Harrah’s is offering locals discount during May

“Legends in Concert,” the longest-running celebrity tribute show in the world, plans to celebrate 28 years of shows on the Las Vegas Strip by offering a special locals discount during May.

The show is performed twice nightly, six nights per week in the Harrah’s Showroom at Harrah’s Las Vegas, 3475 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Nevada residents can purchase a general admission ticket, regularly priced at $55.45, for only $28 (plus taxes and fees). There is a limit of six tickets per order, and guests most show a valid Nevada ID at the box office.

‘The Lion King’ offers Locals discount
on children’s tickets throughout May

In celebration of its second anniversary on the Strip, Disney’s “The Lion King” at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino is introducing its first locals’ ticket offer just for children. For weekend matinee performances during May, each adult purchasing a full-price ticket can purchase two child tickets for only $15.

Tickets can be purchased at the Mandalay Bay box office or the MGM Resorts Call Center at 877-632-7000. Mention “ROAR” for purchase. The ticket offer is available for the 4 p.m. performance of “The Lion King” on Saurdays and Sundays in May with a valid Nevada ID. Children must be younger than 17; there is a maximum of two child tickets per one adult ticket.

Local residents can get half-price tickets to ‘Piano! Las Vegas’

“Piano! Las Vegas” at the V Theater inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is now offering half-price tickets to all Las Vegas locals. Ticket prices for locals start at $14.99 for general admission and $19.99 for VIP seating, plus taxes and box office fees.

Showtimes are at 2:30 p.m. Saturdays through Thursdays.

Local residents can get discounted tickets to ‘Matsuri’ at Imperial Palace

From now until May 31, local residents can purchase tickets to “Matsuri,” a production of 15 Japanese acrobats, gymnasts, dancers and comedians who perform at Imperial Palace, for only $20, plus box office fees and tax, with a valid Nevada ID.

Since the earthquake and tsunami struck Japan in March, the show has been collecting donations at each performance to assist with relief efforts.

In addition, through May, “Matsuri” will donate $5 for each locals ticket purchased to the American Red Cross. The show already has raised more than $2,000 and hopes to reach $10,000 by the end of May.

“Matsuri” plays at 4 p.m. Saturdays through Wednesdays and 8 p.m. Fridays. Tickets are available at the Imperial Palace box office, at vegas.com or by calling 888-777-7664.

former review-journal editor’s exhibit open at left of center art gallery

A tribute to the photography of the late Las Vegas Review-Journal assistant city editor Warren Bates is on display at Left of Center Art Gallery, 2207 W. Gowan Road.

The exhibit is called “Road to Zzyzx.” Its images document deserted areas in and around the desert settlement. It is scheduled to run through June 4.

Bates died in April 2010 seven miles outside of the California ghost town of Amboy, more than 130 miles from Las Vegas, when a train broadsided his car. He was 49.
