Fall watering restrictions begin in Las Vegas Valley
It still feels like summer, but it’s time to fall back to using less water.
Friday marked the beginning of fall watering restrictions in the Las Vegas Valley. Sprinkler and drip-system use is limited to three assigned days a week through Oct. 31, when the winter schedule kicks in and landscape watering is allowed once a week.
Watering on Sundays is prohibited year-round.
Also as of Friday, commercial businesses are required to shut off their mist cooling systems until June 1.
The landscape watering rules were adopted by the authority in 2003 as a temporary response to ongoing drought on the Colorado River, which provides 90 percent of the valley’s water supply. They were later made permanent.
