Man and woman critically injured in central Las Vegas house fire
A man and woman were in critical condition Friday after a house fire in central Las Vegas. At least one of them suffered “serious burns,” authorities said.
The fire broke out about 9:45 a.m. at 241 View Drive, a one-story house near South Decatur Boulevard and Alta Drive. Both victims were taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, according to City of Las Vegas Fire Marshal Robert Nolan.
When firefighters arrived at the house, they found the man outside with critical burns to the front of his body, according to a Las Vegas Fire Department news release. The woman was still inside the home.
Fire crews rescued her from a rear bedroom of the still-burning home. She suffered superficial burns to her arms, smoke inhalation and possible heat inhalation burns, it said.
The house fire was extinguished by 10:15 a.m. Radiant heat from the blaze also set a tree in the backyard on fire, Nolan said.
Property records show that the 1,800-square-foot house was built in 1960 and is owned by Charles and Carla Carlisi.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday afternoon. Investigators were waiting to talk with the occupants, but they were unable to Friday afternoon because of their condition, it said.
The fire cased about $75,000 in damage to the house, the release said.
The fire comes on the heels of a fatal house fire in western Las Vegas earlier this week, when a woman and her 6-year-old son died after a fire started in a second-story bedroom.
This is the third fire this week that sent victims to the hospital in critical condition, the release noted. This week is also fire prevention week, when firefighters educate the public on how to prevent fires and what to do during a fire.
