A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a truck in east Las Vegas on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

A 36-year-old pedestrian was hit near Boulder Highway and East Sun Valley Drive around 1:30 p.m., police said.

Police said a 74-year-old man was driving a maroon 1995 Chevrolet S-10 north on Boulder Highway when the truck hit Maurice Cross, who was walking in a marked crosswalk at Sun Valley. Cross, of North Las Vegas, was taken to Sunrise Hospital Medical Center with injuries and was in critical condition as of 7:30 p.m.

The driver, Richard Dorsett, stayed at the scene and did not show signs of impairment, police said. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating.
