Nursing assistant gets 30 to life in prison in 2008 attacks

A certified nursing assistant was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison Wednesday in connection with the sexual assault and victimization of five female patients at Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center.

Military/veteran caregiver and Henderson resident Amber Linder traveled to Washington, D.C., in April to meet with members of Congress and attend a White House event hosted by first lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden. Linder was selected as an Elizabeth Dole Fellow and serves as a spokeswoman and adviser to the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, which was founded by Sen. Elizabeth Dole to provide better support to the 5.5 million loved ones caring for ill and injured service members.

Police search for serial robber

Las Vegas police are looking for a man who they say robbed several downtown businesses. The man, described by police as 25 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall and around 300 pounds, pulled out a knife and demanded money from a store employee on May 20, police said.
