A 67-year-old Las Vegas man riding a bicycle died Friday after he was hit by a truck in central Las Vegas.

Officers were called around 8:15 a.m. after a crash near West Charleston Boulevard and Scholl Drive, according to a press release from the Metropolitan Police Department.

The cyclist was heading west on Charleston in the right lane when a 1999 Ford F-450 work truck, driven by a 44-year-old man, hit the bicycle as it attempted to pass the rider. The rider was ejected and struck a 201o Toyota Tundra that was at a stop sign at the intersection, police said.

The man was taken to University Medical Center, where he died.
