A pedestrian was killed Tuesday after a suspected impaired driving crash in northwest Las Vegas.

Officers were called just after 5:30 p.m. to the intersection of West Cheyenne Avenue and North Grand Canyon Drive after a report of a crash involving a a truck and a pedestrian, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Investigators spoke to witnesses and reviewed footage, which police said showed the pedestrian run into the road outside the crosswalk and against traffic lights and be struck by a white 2019 Ford F-450.

The pedestrian, a man who was not carrying identification, died at University Medical Center within an hour of the crash.

The driver of the Ford, 34-year-old Steven Ordorica, was uninjured and stayed on the scene. Police said Ordorica failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Ordorica’s charges were not immediately available Tuesday night.
