Valley to see strong winds, dust as storm moves in Saturday

High winds are expected to stir up dust in the valley today , Clark County air quality officials said.

Blowing dust is expected through the afternoon, according to an advisory issued Friday by the Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management.

The dust is not expected to reach unhealthful levels.

The advisory asks motorists to drive slowly on unpaved roads, avoid driving across vacant lots and ride off-road vehicles only in approved areas outside the Las Vegas Valley.

Also, the National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the valley between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. today .

The service forecast calls for a high of 70 degrees today , with southwest winds between 20 and 26 miles per hour, gusting up to 40 miles per hour. There is a 20 percent chance of rain.

Sunday is expected to be partly sunny with calm winds and a high of 61.
