$1K reward offered for information resulting in arrest of suspected vandal

The Bureau of Land Management is offering a $1,000 reward for information resulting in the arrest of the party responsible for breaking a glass window and door, damaging siding, and overturning a temporary restroom at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area on the June 13.

“We are looking to the community to help us identify the culprit,” Robbie McAboy, National Conservation Area Manager said in a statement.

The bureau estimates the cost of repairing the damage to be $2,300; the repairs are expected to conclude this week.

The visitor contact station opened on May 20 and is staffed by BLM employees and Friends of Sloan Canyon volunteers, the bureau said. The station is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday throughout the summer and will open daily in October, the bureau said.

BLM Law Enforcement is investigating the vandalism. It can be reached at 1-800-521-6501.
