Nevada officials announce 532 new COVID-19 cases
State health officials announced 532 new COVID-19 cases in Nevada on Sunday, with no additional deaths.
Data released by the state Department of Health and Human Services showed the state’s test positivity rate at 11.43 percent, having increased nearly every day since the rate bottomed out at 5.2 percent on June 17.
The department has reported 65,601 coronavirus cases and 1,197 deaths in the state to date. There were 18 new hospitalizations reported, raising the current total to 825.
The state infection rate, which has increased all but three days since June 17, increased by 0.01 percent to 11.43 percent.
Sunday’s data shows that 454 new cases were reported in Clark County alone, where most of Nevada’s COVID-19 cases and deaths have been reported.
The Nevada Hospital Association said in its most recent data update, posted Tuesday, that the demand of COVID-19 patients is declining. COVID-19 patients account for 19 percent of all hospitalized patients in the Nevada health care system and are using 17 percent of the state’s ventilator capacity, the association said.
COVID-19 patients make up 21 percent of all hospitalized patients in Clark County and are using 21 percent of the county’s ventilators, the association said.
