Nevada reports 1,856 new coronavirus cases, 8 deaths

State public health officials on Sunday reported 1,856 new coronavirus cases and eight additional deaths.

Those updated figures from the state Department of Health and Human Services bring totals to 217,509 cases and 2,952 deaths since March.

Nevada’s two-week positivity rate was reported at 19.8 percent on Sunday, down slightly from 19.9 percent reported the previous day.

Over a 14-day period, the state is averaging 1,783 new cases and 20 deaths per day.

So far in December, 808 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Nevada, making it the deadliest month of the pandemic. August previously held that record with 475 fatalities, according to state data.

Officials reported 1,189 new cases and one additional death in Clark County on Sunday, according to state data.

The updated numbers bring county totals to 164,673 cases and 2,261 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

The county numbers are included in the statewide totals.

Also Sunday, the Washoe County Health District reported 131 new cases and 13 deaths, bringing county totals to 34,862 cases and 460 deaths.

Data from the state and county health districts can vary because of different reporting cycles.
