Toddler survives crash that killed 2 adults

A 1-year-old girl who was ejected from a moving vehicle was the lone survivor of a crash that killed two adults over the weekend in Northern Nevada, according to the Highway Patrol.

It happened about 1:10 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 80 in Wells, about 60 miles from the Utah state line, NHP said Monday in a news release.

Troopers and medical responders found three residents of Logan, Utah, on the ground near a 1995 Ford Explorer. Richard Beaumont, 38, and Dawna Loughney, 20, were pronounced dead along the roadway, NHP said.

The toddler was not hurt.

Beaumont was driving on an overpass when he left the travel lane for “unknown reasons,” NHP said. The SUV hit a guardrail and Beaumont lost control, causing the Explorer to roll over.

Neither adult was wearing seat belts, NHP said, and a child safety seat in the back of the SUV was “not secured.”
