A little rain falls in west valley, bringing cooler temperatures
By CHRIS KUDIALIS LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
Afternoon thunderstorms passed through the valley on Thursday, bringing three-tenths of an inch of rain and mild temperatures in the 80s, the National Weather Service said.
Storm clouds passed over the north and central parts of the valley from 2:30 p.m. to about 8 p.m., meteorologist Todd Lericos said.
High temperatures reached 94 degrees Thursday, 10 degrees below the July 9 average of 104, Lericos said. Lows dipped down to 76, seven degrees below the average low of 83.
Below-average temperatures will stay in the valley through at least Saturday, Lericos said. Friday’s high is 93 degrees and Saturday temperatures will hover around 96 degrees.
Triple-digit temperatures will return Sunday and stay through next week, Lericos said. Wind gusts could reach up to 20 miles per hour, and the meteorologist said there’s little chance of rain.
