Cool, cloudy Friday not expected to see rain
The clouds that hovered over the valley Friday didn’t drop much rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Las Vegas saw a high temperature of about 71 degrees, said weather service spokesman Nathan Foster, and the rain stayed to the north and south of the valley.
The normal daytime high temperature for this time of year is 89 degrees, Foster said. On the same day last year, valley temps peaked at 97 degrees, he said.
Friday was breezy for most of the day, with winds gusting just over 30 mph about 1 p.m.
By nightfall, temperatures are expected to drop to about 54 degrees, Foster said.
The weekend will be warmer. The low pressure system that brought Friday’s cooler temperatures is expected to move along Saturday, drying out any precipitation. Any chance for rain will continue farther north, near Lincoln County, meteorologist Dan Berc said.
Saturday will be at least 10 degrees warmer, with a high of 77 degrees and calmer southwest winds.
The warming trend will continue with a dry Sunday and temperatures reaching as high as 83 degrees.
Another storm system will be moving in through the beginning of next week, Berc said, and there could be a chance for Monday afternoon showers.
