The National Weather Service is forecasting unseasonably cold temperatures this weekend across the Las Vegas Valley, with rain once again in the forecast during the middle of next week.

Saturday only reached a high of 50 degrees, well below the average high of 60 for this time of year, the weather service said. Saturday night is expected to dip to 37.

Sunday’s high will be slightly warmer at 52 degrees. Low temperatures will hover in the mid-to-upper 30s this weekend.

“We’re running a little over 10 degrees below normal for this date,” said meteorologist John Adair.

At 7:04 a.m. Saturday, it was 34 degrees at McCarran International Airport, Adair said.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected throughout most of next week, with a gradual warming trend through Tuesday, Adair said. Monday and Tuesday are both expected to reach 59 degrees.

Temperatures will drop again on Wednesday, when rain chances will return to the valley, the weather service said.

A 30 percent chance of rain ia forecast for early Wednesday morning, with a 60 percent chance by Wednesday evening, meteorologist Ashley Wolf said.

Compared with the pre-Thanksgiving rain that hit the valley, next week’s precipitation “should be a little more showery” without the constant downpour, Wolf said.

Snow is expected in the Spring Mountains at elevations above 6,000 feet, she said. The snowfall could total up to 8 inches, Wolf said.

Cool temperatures should continue into Thursday, which has an expected high of 56. Overnight lows early next week should be in the low 40s.
