Rain and clouds over Las Vegas Valley on Monday

Las Vegas saw 70 to 75 percent of cloud cover over the entire valley during Monday morning’s solar eclipse, according to the National Weather Service.

The eclipse was accompanied by scattered showers on Monday at 10:27 a.m., meteorologist Chelsea Kryston said.

The north and east parts of the valley had the most cloud coverage. The southwest valley had some drier breaks and therefore had better eclipse viewing conditions, the weather service said.

Monday’s high reached 93 degrees, Kryston said. Tuesday and Wednesday’s forecasts both have highs at 99 with a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms.

The rest of the week will creep back up to triple digits, with a high of 100 on Thursday, the weather service said.

Friday’s forecast has a high of 104 degrees; Saturday, 105; and Sunday, 106. No chance of thunderstorms on those days, Kryston said.

The lows of the week range from the high 70s to low 80s, the weather service said.
