Early Friday wind gusts that approached 60 mph moderated across the Las Vegas Valley, but blustery conditions remained.

Afternoon gusts at North Las Vegas Airport were around 35 mph while wind speeds at Harry Reid International Airport gusted to the mid-20s.

Raw conditions were perhaps felt the most at the Shriner’s Open near Summerlin.

The second round of the Shriner’s Open was delayed four hours because of the windy conditions and the round was not completed because of darkness.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area had reached a high of 62 by 3 p.m., with winds gusting close to 40 mph. Red Rock had frequent gusts in excess of 50 mph during the 9 a.m. hour.

Earlier, Harry Reid showed a top gust of 49 mph while North Las Vegas Airport recorded a gust of 60 mph at 2:15 a.m.

Allegiant Stadium had a top gust of 58 mph at 4:30 a.m., meteorologist Clay Morgan said.

The wind “has come down quite a bit already, perhaps a bit earlier than I expected,” Morgan said shortly before noon. “Saturday will be less windy and Sunday should be a very calm day.”

Temperatures across the valley were 25 to 30 degrees colder than 24 hours ago.

A wind advisory for the area expired at 11 p.m. Friday.

North of the Las Vegas Valley, a wind advisory called for northwest winds of 25-35 mph. It expired at 11 p.m. Friday for Indian Springs, Amargosa Valley, Furnace Creek, Bristlecone Pine, Shoshone, Pahrump, Stovepipe Wells, Westgard Pass, and Desert Rock.

In Las Vegas, Saturday should see a high near 75. North-northwest winds of 8-18 mph will become northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust to 30 mph.

Sunday is expected to be sunny with a high near 79.

A wind advisory expired at 11 p.m. Friday for Lincoln County. North winds of 20-30 mph could gust to 45 mph and temperatures as low as 28 were possible.
