Vegas is warming up; could hit 90 over weekend

It’s time to dig out your swimming suit and find a nice place to get wet.

Temperatures could reach 90 degrees in Las Vegas this weekend, which would be the hottest for 2015 and at least 10 degrees above average, according to the National Weather Service.

It’s not particularly high for the the valley’s standards, meteorologist Chris Outler said, but it is “warm for this time of year.”

Thursday’s projected high is 81 degrees.

High temperatures for this time of year are normally between 73 and 74 degrees, Outler said. Weekend temperatures could reach 90, which are normal for mid-April.

Friday’s high is expected to reach 86, which would be 2 degrees shy of a record high set 27 years ago, Outler said. Saturday will likely tie the 88-degree record set 24 years ago.

Sunday’s 88-degree high is expected to break the 86-degree record set in 1966, he said.

Temperatures will remain in the mid-80s at least through the beginning of next week.
