Pahrump’s Odegard posts best time at Bud O’Dea meet

Pahrump Valley's Bryce Odegard recorded the day's fastest time en route to winning the boys sophomore race of the Bud O'Dea Frosh-Soph Finals at Palo Verde on Tuesday.

Odegard completed the 2.5-mile course in 13 minutes, 58.6 seconds.

Arbor View's Ian Jackson finished second in 14:12.9, and Clark's Liam Jones was third in 14:16.3.

Arbor View was the team champion with 69 points. Palo Verde took second with 91, one point better than Green Valley.

In the boys freshman race, Basic's Andrew Rangel nosed out Palo Verde's Evelio Vergara for first place. Rangel finished in 14:30.7, just two-tenths of a second ahead of Vergara. Centennial's Alexander Miller was third in 15:03.6.

Palo Verde took the team title with 33 points. Liberty was second with 76, followed by Foothill with 115.

Centennial's Alexis Gourrier recorded the fastest girls time, winning the sophomore race in 15:46.1. The Meadows' Ellen Hirsberg was second in 16:20.2, and Boulder City's Sierra Selinger took third in 17:24.4

Centennial also was the girls sophomore team champion with 59 points. Arbor View was second with 94, and Palo Verde was third with 102.

Palo Verde's Grace Edwards won the girls freshman race in 16:54.5. Green Valley's Mia Smith was second in 17:01.7, and Coral Academy's Jenna Alhaery was third in 17:06.6.

Centennial made it a sweep of the girls team titles, finishing with 84 points, five better than Palo Verde. Foothill was third with 105.
