ROUNDUP: Roadrunners’ Cordova wins by three seconds in boys cross country
Tech’s Eduardo Cordova defeated Silverado’s Jered Heter by three seconds Wednesday to take first in a boys cross country meet at Silverado.
Cordova finished the 2.37-mile race in 13:38. Heter was second in 13:41.
The Roadrunners won the team competition with a score of 22. Silverado was second with 34, followed by Desert Pines (97) and Chaparral (103).
Tech placed five runners among the top seven finishers. Jose Escamilla was third in 13:43. Scott Cline took fifth in 14:06. Dominique Cline finished sixth in 14:11, one second ahead of teammate Chris Rising.
Coronado places five in top nine
At Liberty, Coronado had five of the top nine finishers and was the only school to field a full team.
Liberty’s Al Gaben won the 2.6-mile race in 15:04. Teammate Danny Herrera was second in 15:25.
Emilio Arboleda led the Cougars, placing third in 15:43, two seconds ahead of Del Sol’s Randy Klabacka.
Moapa Valley tops Faith Lutheran
At Western, Moapa Valley placed four runners in the top five to win the meet with 20 points.
Faith Lutheran was second with 35.

Centennial has four in top six
At Cimarron-Memorial, Centennial had four runners in the top six spots to win with 24 points.
Spring Valley was second (45) and the host Spartans (63) third.
