Coronado comes down to wire with Foothill

Coronado’s Claire Rawlins finished second in a 2.5-mile race at Foothill on Tuesday to lead the Cougars to a girls cross country win in a three-team meet.

Coronado finished with 32 points, edging Foothill (34). Basic was third with 71.

Raquel Chavez-Velazquez of Basic won the race with a time of 15 minutes, 38.68 seconds. Coronado’s Claire Rawlins was second at 16:13.23, and Foothill’s Myna Buckley (16:25.61) was third.

Coronado took the next two spots with Kylee Baird finishing in 16:54.49 and Caitlin Shannon crossing in 17:11.56.
